Don't delete pictures. If there is one photographer tip I can give you it's this one. When I was younger, I would instantly delete a picture on my camera if it didn't look good. I can't even begin to think of all the "precious" pictures I deleted. The best pictures are the ones where we don't "fake it", of course everyone knows that. Even when saying "cheeeeeeeeeese" to have a natural smile you are still "faking it". I mean you still know your being photographed. And there is nothing to do about that. Unfortunatetly invisible cameras don't exist (How cool would that be?... or maybe not).
I started taking more pictures a couple years ago and would almost never look at my pictures instantly (sort of a bad habit), that led me to not delete anything right away. The "not so good" pictures I found afterwards on my film (really it's on my SD card but film sounded cooler) became so precious. They were so real. Even if my face (or anybody's face) looked weird or the picture was not in focus or my finger was in the way, there was just something so raw and beautiful about them.

Now I keep every picture ever taken which is sort of a problem because I don't own 100 hardrives.
Anyways, I dare you to try it. You might be surprised at what kind of faces you make.

ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute and fun tip. I am definitely very prone to hitting the delete button for "bad angles" and really any excuse I can think of! Also just wanted to let you know I haven't forgot about your email! I have been out of town and just got back, so it is on my to do list! Have a wonderful day!

Great tip. I love when people show real honestly in their photos. I'm guilty of skipping over the bad angles myself. Occasionally I'll let the real me shine. I'm taking on this challenge! Great blog, btw. I'm loving it.
