THINGS

We are surrounded by people and advertisement who make us think we are missing out on something everytime we don't buy the latest trends. We feel like we need more, even though we already have enough. It is mind blowing how we are all consummers, and most of us don't feel a inch of guilt. This is why last January I made a big change in my life. It was something I wanted to do for a long time but couldn't bring myself to do. I stopped buying clothes that were made by exploitation. This means, only buying clothes that were either : handmade, fairtrade, recycled (second-hand/thrifted), or vintage. This way I know i'm not contributing to the exploitation of things (animals, water, trees, people etc) for my own pleasure. This change has been nothing but positive. It opened my eyes to a whole new world. A world where you are happy to encourage talented artists to continue doing what they love. A world where you find the perfect treasure after spending hours in thrift stores. And, most importantly, a world where I take actions for things I believe can change.

I would love to hear about some positive changes you have made in your life... share them with me if you feel like it!
