THIS IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

"I don't understand what is so beautiful about a landscape. How can someone find it fun to walk in the forest and look at trees?  How can they choose to do that over a day at the mall?" - 14 years old me.

This morning, while riding my bike to work, I saw a girl doing her morning run. The way her ponytail was bouncing at the beat of her feet running and the way the sun reflected on her dirty blond hair made me reach in my bag for my phone to take a picture. And just like that, my day was made. As silly as it sounds, the 3.5 mega pixel camera on my phone changed my life. A couple of years ago I would have never even noticed the perfect dirty blond ponytail. Thinking about all the things I see now that I never saw before is crazy. I think Instagram has had a big part in this. It has challenged me to see things in a different way (ex. I always take the same bike trail to work so I try to take a different picture everytime). It also helped me as a photographer (we could make a list of bad things as well, but let's keep this a positive post for now.). I see a visual potential in a lot more things now then I did before.
Or maybe I'm just growing up and this is what it's all about.

  1. Couldn't agree more. The detail we see now, just so we can show others has really improved. Instagram does wonderful things. Growing up, that might have helped also.

  3. Great post, love what you wrote. Cause I feel the same. And the same like you, sometimes I don't know if I'm just growing and that's why I pay attention to some things. Of course places like instagram etc help a lot, they inspire me, but I think as the years go by, I change, as so dos my photography.
And it's funny cause I remember I used to feel bored about natural places, landscapes and that, and now I love them.

    1. Thanks for the sweet words! I usually keep my phone on the side pocket of my bag. And I wear my bag on my back so I can reach it quite easily. But I'd love to have a mini front basket for my phone :)
